Annual Fundraising Appeal 2025-2026

Save A Family Plan has launched “Programs that Work,” our annual year-end appeal to friends and supporters for the funding needed for Community Development Projects in India.
This year, Save A Family Plan proudly celebrates 60 years of partnering with impoverished families and villages throughout India to break the cycle of poverty. All of our programs offer sustainable solutions based on six decades of experience and expertise.
Our Community Development projects address today’s critical needs as well as the long-term consequences of poverty, sickness, and natural disasters. We have a number of amazing projects planned; see below for more information.
We hope that you will be inspired to pledge your financial support. Please donate today!

“Most Urgent Needs”
A donation in the amount of your choosing which will be directed by Save A Family Plan wherever it is needed most.
Biogas Stove Units
Converting waste into a valuable heating source is not only environmentally friendly, it means less organic waste and fewer vermin. A fuel source that is steady and reliable when electricity is not available can mean being able to boil water for food and drink, protecting a family from potentially deadly diseases such as typhoid fever and hepatitis-A. Overall goal: 15 biogas systems at $920 each; total of $13,800.
Children’s Education
Education is vital to the development of young children and is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Our program provides a structured environment where children can improve their social and academic abilities with a qualified instructor. Students receive academic support, school supplies, skills-training and vocational guidance. In a safe and supportive setting, they socialize with other children their age, enjoy healthy snacks, and get to be children. Overall goal: enroll 160 students, at $95 per child per year; total cost of $15,200.
Clean Water Purifiers
Impoverished children, especially those under five years of age, are disproportionately affected by the diseases and infections that result from unsafe water. Collecting water is also a grave concern for women and children: walking up to several miles every day to fetch water takes up many hours, at the exclusion of work and school, and exposes them to wild animals and other risks.
In addition to the distribution of non-electric water purifiers, we provide education about hygiene and water safety that teach villagers about local watersheds and sustainable practices. A water filtration unit, plus training and education, costs $60. Overall goal: 2,000 units; total cost of $120,000.
Solar Power Systems
This relatively new, eco-friendly project focuses on the health and everyday needs of impoverished families. There is often little or no access to electricity in poor, rural areas. Solar energy transforms the lives of a family by providing them with power for cooking, interior lighting for the children to study, exterior lighting offering safety, and electric fans to provide some relief from the intense heat. The cost of a system is $1,500; overall goal 100 units; total cost of $150,000.
Household Sanitary Toilet
Access to a household toilet means improved hygiene, safety (especially for women and children), privacy, and dignity. Open defecation creates a grave threat to public health, and walking long distances creates the risk of encountering wild animals. Unsanitary conditions cause disease, leaving parents unable to work work, and children unable to attend school. A toilet can literally mean the difference between life and death. Overall goal: construct1,000 toilets at $550; total cost of $550,000.
Women’s Tailoring Course
Each of our three training centres has 30 students, for a total of 90 women in the Women’s Empowerment Project. Over the course of five months, each will have learned the advanced skills to start her own tailoring and sewing business, either from her home, or in some cases in cooperation with fellow alumnae.
Each graduate will receive a formal Certificate and an industrial-quality sewing machine. As entrepreneurs with a stable income, they can provide for the needs of their families. Overall goal: to enroll 90 women at $500 per person; total cost of $45,000.
House Construction
Many families live in makeshift shacks, slums, and overcrowded tenements. Without proper housing, families are subject to many health hazards, social vulnerabilities, and economic insecurities. Lack of housing undermines efforts to gain good employment, access education, and maintaining health and well-being.
Each home we build provides its family with shelter, a cooking area, and bedrooms, as well as vital services (electricity, sanitation, potable water). Each home is unique, but the typical cost is around $6,750. The overall goal is to build 50 new family homes at a cost of approximately $337,500.
