40 For Lent

40 for lent challenge

During Lent, the 40-day period between Ash Wednesday and Easter, many Christians prepare for Easter with prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  (Regardless of one’s beliefs, acts of charity and compassion are worthwhile, any time.)

This Lent, join Save A Family Plan to care for the poor and vulnerable.  Our goal is to sign up 40 individuals or groups who will join our social justice mission to partner with impoverished families and villages in India.

Caring for the poor is not just charity, it is social justice – our mission since 1965.  Join Save A Family Plan to partner with impoverished families and villages in India to break the cycle of poverty.

How you can get involved:

  • Sponsor a family in India ($25/month)
  • Plan a fundraiser in support of a community development project:
    • Children’s school supply kits ($15)
    • Children’s education ($95/student)
    • Clean water purifiers ($60)
    • Women’s tailoring course ($500/student)
    • Biogas stove unit ($920)
  • Host an info event and invite SAFP to give a presentation to your group
  • For teachers: build global poverty and social justice into your lesson plans
  • For parishes: choose a weekend to collect donations after Mass or a social
  • Or some other unique idea of your own!

We invite you to do something amazing this Lent.  Let us know if we can count you among our 40 challengers; email ncouto@safp.org or phone 1-855-333-1115.  If you can’t commit this year but would like to make a donation, visit www.safp.org.

Our 40 for Lent Challenge card is available SAFP Lent card, or available in print upon request.  The card is 4×9 inches in size, the same size as a standard brochure.  Click here to download the PDF SAFP Lent poster.

In the event that a program has already become fully funded, or where conditions delay or prevent program implementation, Save A Family Plan may redirect your donation to the most urgent needs.
